Firehose Week

1/20/2017

This is the week that feels like drinking from a firehose. Classes start Monday for Spring 2017; the Presidential Inauguration just happened; Denese is traveling to WI to open a show; Sophia is on stage playing Tony; etm.
The college meeting is looking at graduation rates  and high-impact processes for teaching; DHR https://csumb.edu/titleix and https://csumb.edu/behavioralinterventionteam;

Goodness--how time flies! It's now Feb 1 and I never got the post from 2 weeks ago done. Ouch. But I was very stimulated today by a post from Musicuentos that just tickled my sense of 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'. She advocates for throwing 3 bucks at Wikipedia, a practice I've followed for the last 5 years.
Well, I'm going to just treat this like a Facebook post--no greater meaning. Just a summary of what's blown past me and is working as input right now. Perhaps this weekend I'll ponder the 'release the Kraken' situation I'm in...

So, I really should blog

I first started this first post October 2, 2015. Shortly before I had my big bike accident. The 'thing', the 'event' that has changed my interaction with the world in a significant way.
And today, Jan 18, 2017 I'm actually writing my first post. I've been thinking about this first post for quite a while now. John Ittelson suggested it 2-5 years ago. Forever ago. Just get writing and share your ideas and views. And today a short piece by Taylor Pearson called Learning How to See caught my eye, as my wife Denese talks about drawing well is really about seeing well. And here's some guy connecting my wife's talk with that of this guy on the internet. And so here I am writing my first post.
Lots of thoughts about what I should address: accident recovery, weather, upcoming conference, work loads, current projects, family life, career prospects, returning to school, home projects, friendships, personal growth... lots going on upstairs.
I've got some kind of a feeling that I'm getting back on track. With my life and my outlook. My physical being. I jogged today while at physical therapy. Will Kramer got some energy flowing between my feet, hands and neck that was just wonderful.
Oh, my proposal for IALLT 2017 was accepted today. That brought some more light to this gray day (weather wise). Cold, rainy Northern California winter. It's nice to see pushback to the drought .
I know that I have to include 'Hello World' in here somewhere.
